This is a very special sale of items from my personal collection. Every item on this list have been in my personal |
|||||
|
collection, many of them for years. Many of them are unusual or even unique. Something about them interested me |
|||||
|
enough to include them in my personal collection. As my collection interests change or perhaps I find a better example, |
|||||
|
I decided to let these treasures go to other collectors. There are some real gems here that I really would like to keep, |
|||||
|
so look through the list carefully. |

| GC427 | ABC N1261 | Swiss Cantonal style of bayonet. This one fits on a male dove tailed channel on the side of the barrel. Attachment is by means of a knurled screw. The blade is triangular and hollow ground. The ricasso is stamped J J over a touch mark. Bright finish. | VG | SOLD | |
| GC1015 | Small flat bladed socket bayonet ca. 1725-50 n/s.
Very similar to the French officerıs type, but the shank is a bit different.
Could be an officerıs piece or hunting. Blade is flat, SE and wedged shaped.
There is a false edge coming back from the tip, no fullers. Shank is square
in cross section. There is a large attachment shield at the shank socket
joint. It is brazed with copper. Socket is very short with a three step
mortise slot. The third step is just the size of the stud. Configured for a
top stud. Superb example.

| GC1082 | Spanish Hunting Socket bayonet 18th Cent w/s. Probably
Andalucian. Blade is Single edged and fullerless. The back edge of the
blade is decorated with multiple notches and curves. The blade shoulder on
the cutting edge side features a deeply recessed circular notch that is both
decorative and functional. It is designed to hold a string, wire, or spring
and to fix the bayonet onto the gun. The shank is made separately from the
blade. It is decortive and features a right angle. The socket is brass with
a straight mortise slot. The open seam on the socket is under the shank
attachment shield. The brass mounted leather scabbard is probably not quite
as old as the socket.

1855 English Lancaster n/s. Officially shortened 18 mm in 1907. Strange mod. I have only seen a couple of these. The normal shortened versions are so short that they loose the swollen tip. This one was only shortened by 18 mm. Also the pipe-ridge stops short of the tip now. I can find no published reference for the modification. Purchased from Jerry Janzen estate.
